From musical theatre and opera to singing in church, music has always played an essential role in Kelsie Watts’ life. For many years, Kelsie pursued her passion for music in the pop world. Her velvety smooth voice eventually caught the attention of American Idol producers, landing her a ticket to Hollywood in 2016. Upon her departure from the reality singing competition, Kelsie began to reevaluate the direction she wanted to take with her music.

“I felt exhausted,” explained Kelsie, “I knew I still loved singing, but I didn’t know where I was supposed to go from there.”

After taking some time to deal with the heart-breaking loss of her younger brother, the singer’s outlook on life and musical path dramatically began to shift.

“I realized I had never really dealt with my brother’s suicide. Once I allowed myself to begin the healing process, I knew this was a topic that I wanted to help shed light on,” explained Kelsie. “It’s a subject that we often shy away from or don’t know exactly how to approach, but it’s important to let others know that they are not alone and it’s ok to talk about it."

In the fall of 2018, while attending a women’s conference, Kelsie had a powerful encounter leading her to make a brave transition with her musical song styling.

“I had spent years trying to make it on my own,” explained Kelsie. “That night God spoke so clearly to me, revealing why all my efforts up to this point had left me unfulfilled. He told me to ‘stop and say yes.’ I realized in that moment, my voice is not my own and I’m called to use it and my story to bring HIM glory, not myself.”  

With her renewed sense of purpose, Kelsie now embarks on a mission to help empower others. She plans to share a message of positivity and while, at the same, bringing a fresh new perspective and sound to the Christian genre.

“I want to prove that there’s no mold you have to fit into,” said Kelsie. “I want my music to be something everyone can enjoy and take away something from it. God’s love is open to all, and I want my message and songs to reflect.”  

Committed to being a role model for young girls, Kelsie moving forward aspires to speak at events dedicated to inspiring and encouraging the next generation of girls.

“I don’t want to be told I’m a flower,” joked Kelsie. “I want to be real about my story and struggles so I can connect with young girls on a deep level, and hopefully help them discover their own self-worth.”

Kelsie’s newest single "Speak Life,” is an upbeat, EDM-infused, pop track that encourages listeners to choose their words carefully. Her song touches on the importance of speaking truth into our lives.

“Our words truly do carry the power of life and death,” said Kelsie, “when we make the conscious effort to speak God’s truth over ourselves amazing things can happen.”
